3. Our ethics and commitments

Justice-first, community-owned data and design.

We have set out our initial data, design and ethics principles that are non-negotiable and offer an alternative model for responsible community design.

We welcome your feedback and will iterate as we go. Email us at laboflivedexperience.com

  • Community-owned

Every model must build community wealth, not extract from the people who created it.

  • Universal

Everyone needs to protect their biological health, not just “the sick and disabled”.

  • Integrative

Every system needs the expertise of the people it was never designed to see, hear or serve. And it should be the starting point, not an add on.

  • Justice-first

Every venture must build a clear pathway to social and economic justice.

COMMUNITY GOVERNANCE: We are working towards establishing a community benefit society (CBS) model, where every member will be able to suggest and vote on data use, projects and how a community fund should be designed, distributed and maintained.

For now, our focus is on getting the basics right

  • How we design

We design for the most energy-limited, most excluded communities first. Radical inclusion and accessibility is our starting point.

  • How we use Gen AI

AI is a tool that can assist excluded communities to participate in digital tasks and to manage the heavy load of summarising and visualising their individual and collective exclusion expertise. It is not a replacement for human intelligence and we will continue to follow responsible AI safety and best practice carefully.

  • Who governs the data

Community data is used only for projects that serve the community. We will always tell you how each project uses it before it is used.

  • What we store

When we run a campaign we will only ever store non-identifiable information in our community-owned databases. You can see everything we see here for our bioreality tool and read more about our data policy here.
